Tokyo Opera Production have performed 60 operas since they were established in 1975. Their first productions were of Le Docteur Miracle (Bizet) and L'heure espagnole (Ravel). Since then they have performed Curlew River, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Le Comte Ory, Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra, La Traviata, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Salome, Capriccio, Ariadne auf Naxos and other operas.

 

The company have a special interest in Shakespearian operas and have sung Roméo et Juliette (Gounod), Béatrice et Bénédict (Berlioz), Das Liebesverbot (Wagner), Hamlet (Thomas) and Otello (Rossini).

 

The company has no permanent venue.
