The Fujiwara Opera is Japan's leading company performing Italian and French Opera. The company was founded in 1934 by the tenor FUJIWARA Yoshie. He died in 1977 and it was taken over by the Japan Opera Foundation in 1980. The company does not have a permanent venue.

The archives hold a complete set of cast lists for Past Productions of the Fujiwara Opera 1985-99. Many well-known international singers have appeared with the Fujiwara Opera, also conductors, directors and designers.

Below is a list of all operas performed since 1934. Note the abiding and unrivalled popularity of three operas: Carmen (23 productions), Madama Butterfly (22) and La Traviata (23). After them the most frequently performed are Tosca (16), and La Boheme and Barbiere di Siviglia (both 11).
