- The New National Theatre also has a new production of La bohème. Fiorenza Cedolins and Octavio Arevalo leads the first cast, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Antonio Pirolli. The producer is AGUNI Jun [19, 20, 23, 26, 27, 29 April, NNTT Opera House].
- The NNTT explain: 'Struggling young artists with lofty aspirations find it hard to earn their daily bread though dedicated devoutly to art . . . captivating arias . . . drawing the audience to the work regardless of any negative preconceptions they may have had. The story follows the pattern of "introduction, development, twist and conclusion," with the ending underscoring the ephemerality of the heroine's life . . . '

- At the workshop space of the New National Theatre, the 'Pit Opera' present a rarity: Giuseppe Gazzaniga's version of Don Giovanni. This was first performed in 1787, the same year as Mozart's masterpiece.
